More Tyobic Victoria shots

Please excuse Doug's weathering on the cement pots, NQR...

One of the advantages of foam, both of these cuttings are 100% foam.

Its flat out at Tyobic station, that's Peter's sheep vans in the background.

Strath Hobbies double deck car carrier

Hi All

Here is a kit that I am actually looking forward to giving this a go.

Heres the contents of the kit. Nice neat work, perfect for Alice Springs.

Thanks

Scott

Alice industrial continues

The west end of the yard, to the left is the Boral siding, between this and the NTFS and the indrustrial branch lead. In the forground is the west end of the main yard.

Track all laid out and ready for adhesive.

The little section of the layout. Note the "rare breed" containers are simulating the Adelaide Brighton Cement plant.

Thanks

Tyobic extra shots

Hi All

Some more Tyobic pictures

A short stock train wanders into Tyobic

A single C class thumps through town.

A panoramic shot of Tyobic, a good feeling of distance. Spot on.

Thanks

Tyobic pictures CM didnt make it.

Hi All

To celebrate the publication of the Tyobic Article in Continental Modeller, here's some extra pictures of Tyobic. For your interest.

Doug wagon's of immaculate conception make an appearance.

An S class wanders into Tyobic, while a C class waits in the Goods loop, got to love that diamond crossing!

a Kiss class wanders through parched fields near Tyobic.

One of my favorite picutures. A C class hounds down the level crossing at the down end of town, with a short grainy. The truck driver just made it. While still in the yard, two jobs go about their business.

Enjoy

Alice industrial progress part 3

Hi All

More possitioning stuff before the final cut.

With 603 in the background, this is the BP terminal location.

Near the west end of the industrial area I have managed to re locate the NTFS depot complete with siding.

603 at the Mobil siding, the Sheel tanker is just for possitioning purposes.

Enjoy

Alice industrial area part 2

Hi All

Some more progress pictures

The trackage was all roughed out before final cutting of track and application of adheasive.

The track in the forground is the Caltex siding, behind that is the Mobil siding.

The drain was replicated in foam, with the base of 30mm foam, then the colverts were cut in using a sharp stanley knife.

The wiring can be seen feeding through the foam base.

Thanks

Scott

Alice industrial area progress

Hi All

Here is some long overdue progress pictures

The more compliacted end boards

Two of the industrial area boards with foam inserts

To ensure the ends have a good anchor to the protector ends I have inserted t nuts prior to installation of the foam on all boards.

The Mobil siding board, not the cut out for the drain, that goes right through the industrial area and yard. Hole cut outs are for the points and the wiring connectors.

Thanks

Shots from Glen's Digy vault

Hi All

Thanks to Glen, I would like to share some of the more every day, shots of northern operations. With a bit of a twist.

Here is a EL63 leading a CLF and VL, I am guessing this a AD1 service. Its good to see the EL desert running again.... Anyway looks like the Alice Springs loading is on the front. With DG requirements, we see for PTMY Sadabin tankers separated from the lead units, and further down again seperated by a FQAY is a PTLY LPG tanker. Thus distributed through out the train, simply to satisfy DG requirements.

Here is a shot of a proper "shue fly" when something like a wash out occurs as seen above. A temporary track is laid around the washout and then operations can continue, with restrictions. From a modeling point of view, a feature worth considering.

You could have a replaceable section of your layout, to illustrate a washaway. Thus a heavy speed restriction and grade. "railway furniture" will include. Speed boards, equipment for repair. Train orders issued would note this as a restriction as would the TC12.

A town like Alice track diagram

Hi All

Below are some track diagrams of a town like Alice.

I have revised the industrial area to include the BP and Caltex sidings.

The length of the yard has been reduced by 2 ft. This so that the person alocated as the yard shunter can gain access to the south end of the yard.

This is the revised plan with the industrial area split, with an access to both sides of the main yard.

I know it looks a little scratchy, this is the plan currently under construction. I am sure there are more changes as it gets built. Key to this revision, the cattle pens have moved to the correct side of the line. This leaves room for the Ginacood hotel.

an industrial area in a town like Alice

Hi All
Here is some shots of construction progress on the industrial area of a town like Alice.

An example of the flush clip arangment on the new improved design.

The female ned of the boards.

The industrial area boards end to end. Prior to installation of foam or 3mm MDF base.

All the boards up against the shed.

Here is a close up of the new board detail. Showing the in set clip arrangment.

Here is a close up of the new keyed ends.

The skinny boards are for the industrial line. I have made slight improvements over previous Barcoola boards. These ones have locator keys in the ends. I have also in set the clips to stop damage during transit.
I am aiming for having the industrial area set up and operating before Xmas.

Chain link fencing for Alice Springs

Hi All

The problem with doing a semi city area is the need for lots of chain link fencing.
I am going to give the BLMA chain link fencing a go.
Got to give the barbed wire top a bit of thought.

Alice Springs industrial siding continued

The trackage within the Sadabin distribution terminal, note the curvature of northern track.

The entrance gate of the Sadabin distribution terminal, to the right is the bridge over the drain that goes right through the yard.

The Kleen Gas siding is to the right.

So this a little bit of a Lance Mindhiem in the middle of Alice Springs industrial area.

Thanks again to Doug for the pictures.

Alice Springs industrial trackage

Hi All

With thanks to Doug,

Here is some shots of the Alice Springs industrial line to Sadabin's Mobil siding, taken around 2004.

Here is a TITIAN pnumatic contcrete container. These container arrive in Alice Springs by train. A similar version was used in 1993 for the same purpose.

The Adelaide Brighton Cement plant

A close up of the silos

Note the siding in the foreground going to Kleen Gas, the next one up goes to the steel distributer.

Note the kick back point is still in place that was used for storage and as per the 1980 plans what looks like an end loading platform.

In my version of Alice Springs the board for this area will only be about 1ft wide. This is the trade off for access to both sides of Alice Springs yard.

Enjoy.
